Update 10/4/16

I know, I know. I’m the worst at keeping up with this blog. I’ve jus been having so many bad days with my Hashimotos. Plus, I’m just getting over a sinus infection that I’ve had for like a month. I finally went to the doctor for it last week and he gave me an antibiotic for it. For the most part I’m feeling better.

Birthday

My dad’s birthday was on September 17th. All he wanted to do was walk around the flea market and then have dinner at my brother’s house. We only got to walk around the flea market for about an hour and a half because I had to go into work for a couple of appointments. I was able to find some good treasures though:

My favorite is the Venus de Milo statue. It was basically free. I do the owner’s hair and instead of paying me, she gives me store credit. I only do that with her because I love her store and I already shopped there way before I started doing her hair. I already owned The Proposal (my favorite movie btw), my dad borrowed it and misplaced it. He said he gave it back, but I recently just cleaned out my room very thoroughly and did not find it. Oh well it was only like a dollar so I bought it again. the complete 1st season of Fringe was only $6. I found out why when I started watching it. It skips a lot, but not too much that I can’t still enjoy it.

After my appointments, we drove out to my brother’s for din din. We had hamburgers and I got to spend some time with my cute nephew.

Mabon

I didn’t really do much for Mabon. I was still feeling gross from my sinus infection. I did set up a little outside altar and gave thanks.

Dog Sitting

I did some dog sitting for my neighbor. Her dogs are weird, but cute. They’re also super cuddly.

Skateboarding

My brother took my 3 year old nephew to the skate park. He had bought him a skateboard for his birthday last year.

Another Birthday

It was also my Gangy’s birthday last month. Alright, she’s not really my Gangy. She’s actually a neighbor that I take care of while her daughter is out of town. Her daughter does dog shows and is gone for several days at a time. While she’s gone, I’ll go over and cook breakfast and dinner for her mother (my “Gangy”). She can do everything else by herself, she’s just partially blind and can’t see the numbers on the stove/microwave. I call her my Gangy because she’s a lot nicer than my real one. Anyway, her daughter invited me to go out to lunch with them for her birthday. We went to Pisces Rising in Mount Dora. It was over priced for small portions of sub-par food. Good thing I wasn’t paying! It sure was a beautiful day though.

Well that’s how my September went. I’m excited that October is here. I can’t wait until Samhain/Halloween.

Summer Solstice

I hadn’t really planned on doing anything big for the Summer Solstice (Litha). It’s one of my favorite Sabbats, but I just didn’t haven’t had time or motivation to plan an elaborate like I usually do. There was a public ritual in Orlando with the Pagan group I usually meet with, but with recent events i didn’t feel comfortable going.

The day before the Solstice though, my mom asked what we were doing to celebrate. She’s not Pagan, but shows interest when I tell her a Sabbat is coming up. Since she showed interest I decided to plan something. I decided to cook a nice Solstice dinner and then we wanted to have a bonfire. But before I made dinner I cleaned house and paid some bills. Something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. Thought Litha would be an appropriate time to do so.

In addition to my mom, my nephew and my sister and her boyfriend attended. Half way through dinner my brother and his girlfriend stopped by to pick up my nephew. They stayed for a bit to eat dinner too.

For dinner we had diet complaint food. Chicken salad with various fruit and veggie toppings: Strawberries, apples, avocado, carrots, cucumbers, and sweet peppers. I even made compliant ranch dressing (not pictured). We also had a cooked veggie mix (zucchini, squash, and green beans), garlic roasted potatoes, and mixed berry water. For dessert I made baked sweet sweet potatoes, apples and strawberries diced up and sprinkled with cinnamon. Pictures of dinner:

My brother, his girlfriend , and my nephew didn’t stay long. After dinner we had a bonfire and read aloud our favorite Edward Gorey stories: The Hapless child, Gashly Crumb Tinies, and The Doubtful Guest. Not very :Litha related, but we had a good time.

image

After we read some stories and had s’mores, we decided to go in since the mosquitoes were eating us alive. Everyone started to do their own thing so I decided to take this time to do a private ritual. I just did it in my room where I’d be undisturbed. I didn’t take any pictures because it was a private one and I didn’t want to bring my phone into the circle. I will tell you I decided to do something for the 49 victims, as well as the other deaths in Orlando (the Voice singer Christina Grimmie and the two year old taken by the alligator; Lane Graves. I also did something for the actor Anton Yelchin, who had been one of my favorites). During the ritual I also wrote down some goals I wanted to accomplish in the next 6 weeks (until the next Sabbat).

After the ritual, I set out my crystals and water I wanted to make into moon water under the full moon to charge.

Well that was my Summer Solstice. I turned out to be a rather nice one. I’m glad my family wanted to join me. How was yours?

Weekly Review + This Week’s Goals

Review for 6/6/16-6/12/16

Health– Well I didn’t get as far as I wanted to with my health goals this week. I only did strength training one day, I didn’t walk at all, and I still couldn’t get to sleep before 4am. I also had too many “reintroduction” days. I at least I know for sure which foods I can and can’t have now.

I did however get blood work done at my doctor’s. I don’t go back for a review until July 5th.

Spirituality-I still didn’t meditate. It’s hard for me to actually mediate on little to no sleep.

Work-I worked as many hours as I could and did some much needed advertising.

Art-I finished painting all but one of my mini altar sets. Now all I have to do is make the pouches and they’ll be ready to list on Etsy.

Goals for 6/13/16-6/19

Health– Work on the goals I didn’t accomplish last week.
1. Strength training 3 days a week.
2. Walk 3 days a week.
3. Get to bed before 12am.
4. No reintroduction days. They just make me sick.

Spirituality-Actually meditate instead of just talking about it.

Work:
1. More advertising.
2. Add complimentary water and beverages.

Art– Pouches for the altar kits and get them listed.

Blog-Now that it’s kind of slowing down at work, I want to start writing more articles/posts pertaining to Paganism and Witchcraft. I feel like I don’t have enough in here. I want to write them geared more towards beginners like myself. It’ll help me learn too. I’ll be posting which topics I plan to cover later this week.

Witch Crafts: Beach in a Bowl

image

This craft is perfect for sea witches that  are land locked or far from the ocean. Or for any witch that wants the “beach” on their altar. Mine kind of looks like an altar for Aphrodite, so you could do that too. You can tweak it how you want, this is just to show you one way of doing it. Let’s get started!

Supplies:
-Sand (beach or white)
-Water
-Salt (sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, or table.)
-Mortar and pestle (for crushing sea salt or HPS)
-Glass bowl
-Empty glass votive or shot glass
-Large plastic bowl (to catch any stray sand. Gets kind of messy).
-Funnel
-Tiny shells (real or fake), gemstones, or other little trinkets you want to use.

*A note about the sand: If you use sand you’ve collected from the beach, first lay it out on a large pan to dry out. Make sure it is thoroughly dry before using it or it will stink and get moldy. Also, be sure to clean out your shells if you use real ones.

1. First, put your glass votive or shot glass into your glass bowl. Then put both into tour plastic bowl.

image

2. Grab your funnel and your sand. You may want to put the sand in a cup or jar to make it easier to pour into the funnel.   Place the funnel inside the bowl, but outside of the votive. You’re going to pour the sand all the way around the votive. Gently pour the sand in. Full it to just a little bit below the lip of the votive. That way the sand won’t flow over. Once you get all the sand in, gently shift it so that the sand lays out flat.

image

image

3. If you’re using sea salt or HPS, now is when you’d crush it in the mortar and pestle. I used sea salt to give it more of an ocean feel. But if all you have is table salt, that’s fine too.

image

image

4. Once you’re done crushing the salt, pour it into the votive.

5. Next, gently pour in the water. Again, just full it up to a little below the lip so it doesn’t spill out over the edge.

image

6. Lastly, add your shells, stones, or trinkets. I added shells, an amethyst, and a goddess figure. It turned out looking like an altar for Aphrodite. Which I love, because I’ve been really drawn to her lately.

image

You can altar yours to fit your tastes. You can also make it as big or small as your want. I wanted mine to fit on my altar.

Post any questions you may have below in the comments. I’d be happy to answer them. I’d also love to see variations.

Weekly Goals 6/6/16-6/12/16

Health:
Get more sleep: These past two weeks I haven’t gone to bed before 4am. It’s been horrible. This week I’m going to really try to get on a better sleeping schedule.
Start walking again: Because of my lake of sleep I’ve gotten behind on my walking.
Add in strength training: My sister called me dainty. I don’t want to be dainty. I want to be a warrior!

Spiritual:
Meditate more: I always talk about it, but don’t actually do it.

Work:
Work more hours: It’s a slow week so far and I need monies.

Art:
Finish my mini altars: I want to get them listed by the end of the week.

New Moon Sun Tea

image

I’ve always wanted to make sun tea and I thought I’d add a little magic to it. The new moon is tonight so the intentions for this tea is “New beginnings”. Here’s what I did:

First I added in the ingredients.
Lavender for healing, purification, and sleep. One of my new beginnings is to get more sleep.

image

Lemon slice for cleansing, purification, spirituality, and removing blockages.

image

Fresh peppermint from the garden. Peppermint is good for healing and purification.

image

I put the herbs and lemon slice into a mason jar and poured in filtered water. If you don’t have a mason jar, any glass jar, bottle, or pitcher will do. Just make sure the container is glass (plastic has poisons that soak into the water when left in the sun) and has a lid. If it doesn’t have a lid, cover the top with a piece of fabric and secure it with string or a rubber band. Here’s mine:

image

When I finished putting the jar together, I added a sigil I made last night. The sigil I made was “new beginnings”. Simple, but effective. I also made a sigil card to go with it. The sigil card is lime my full moon goal cards. On the back I wrote out my new beginnings. I have three.

image

After the sigil was added, I set the jar outside where it would get lots of sun. I set it in the pot of my sunflower, Sunny. Now I just let it brew and charge in the sun and I’ll enjoy it tonight during the new moon.

Full Moon Goal Motivation Spell

This is a spell to help you stay motivated while reaching your goals. This spell is to be done on the night of the full moon or the night prior.

Supplies:
-Index card
-Pencil or pen
-Scissors
-Gemstone (I’ll explain what kind later)
-Himalayan Pink Salt (optional)

Steps:

1. Cut the index card in half:

image

2. Next write down the word “goal” and “steps” like in the picture below (doesn’t have to be exactly like the picture):

image

3. Next, fill in your goal and the steps you want to take in order to reach your goal. Here’s one I did for my health:

image

4. Design a sigil to draw on the back. [You can find sigil making tutorials online. I’ll be making one soon.] It can be as complicated or as simple as you like:

image

5. After you draw up your sigil, say a prayer or incantation. I’m not going to include one here because I feel it’s best to say something from the heart. Feel free to call on a moon deity like Selene or Thoth.

6. This is where the gemstone and HPS come into play. Find a gemstone that goes with your goal. I used Blue Lace Agate foe mine. It’s specific for the thyroid. The Himalayan Pink Salt magnifies your intentions. Once you’ve found the stone you want to use, place the card writing side down on your window sill to be charged in the full moon. Place the gemstones and HPS on top.

image

I like to keep mine in place the whole month so they are constantly being charged in the sun. If you keep yours up during the day, make sure the gemstone you use won’t get discolored by the sun. Some gemstones do that, like amethyst. If you do have one of these, place something over the stone to protect it from the sun. I used a shell, but you could use a piece of paper or pretty scarf.

image

image

image

You can make as many of these cards as you want. Like I said, I leave mine on the sill at all times under the stone and HPS. I feel this works best. I tried putting them in a sachet to carry with me, but they instantly quit working when I did that.

Now watch as your goals are accomplished!

*Please note that you still have to put in effort to reach your goals. This spell is just to help keep you motivated.
