Life Update

Religion:

About a month ago I started going back to the Mormon church. I had been missing it lately. I like being back. I know it’s where I need to be. From now on you’ll see Mormon related posts. I’ll still post about other things so don’t worry. I’ll still keep some Pagan practices as well. I’m actually doing a 90 day Book of Mormon challenge on my Instagram if you want to join in. My IG is @ldsgingerasrai.

Health:.

I don’t think I ever updated you on my thyroid levels. I went to my general physician and Endocrinologist and they both told me that my levels are normal! That’s awesome news. I still notice symptoms from my Hashimotos, but I have a lot more good days then bad days now. I really think that it was my Graves medication (Methimozole) that kept me sick. My new Endo said that my old Endo was over medicating me. She took me off my meds at the beginning of the year and ever since then I have slowly started feeling better.

I still haven’t gone back to doing Whole 30, but I’m really trying. When you’re on it you have to cook every meal. But that’s been hard because I don’t have the energy most days. I know that if I go back on that I will have energy. It’s a vicious cycle. I also need to plan my meals better, that’s a huge part of it. I’ll get back to it though. I really want to start taking care of myself. I want to keep my thyroid levels normal and get my Hashimotos under control.

I have signed up at Planet Fitness 3 weeks ago. I really enjoy going (when I have the energy). I try to go even when i don’t have the energy, but some days it’s really bad. I did good the first week, but these past two weeks I’ve only been a few times. I’m still losing weight most days. I’ve lost a total of 24 pounds!

Family:

My sister has been on her mission for a month now. Only 17 months left! I miss her so much, but she is doing the Lord’s work. She’s really enjoying it. I knew she would, she’s a great missionary.

On July 30th, my nephew Carter turned 3. I can’t believe how big he is getting! He’s such a character.

Surprise Visit

I’ve been meaning to post for the past two weeks, but I got really busy. That means I will be writing a couple of posts today. One reason I was so busy is because my sister came home for a visit. She was on spring break from college. I didn’t even know she was coming home until she surprised me at work Friday night (the 6th). She and my mom had kept her visit a secret for a month. Since she was only here a week, we spent a lot of time together. We mostly just hung out and watched Netflix. Last Thursday we ended up going to the beach. I found a bunch of big chunks of shells that I’m going to use to make jewelry with.

Shells Edited

I couldn’t really find any whole shells and the ones I did find were to thin to make jewelry with. I like these pieces though and they are nice and thick. Even thought I’m not really a fan of the beach, it was still nice to being there and feeling the energy of the ocean. Another thing I like about the beach is that it’s where all the elements come together; earth, air, water, fire. The elements plus the salt in the water make it a very healing place. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was really packed.

One morning we ate breakfast at a 50’s diner because my sister really likes 50’s memorabilia.

After breakfast that day, we went thrifting. I found some really nice things. I found this beautiful wooden box that I put my crystals and gemstones in:

I also found this awesome filo-fax style planner. This was my favorite because I had been really wanting one of these about a month ago. The only ones I could find online were $40+. This one was $2! The down side is it smells like cigarettes. I’m going to have to figure out how to get that smell out.

I also found these cute little jars for my herbs:

I didn’t find these jars during this trip, but I really wanted to show them:

I’m going to use these to put my baking ingredients in.

All in all, it was really nice seeing my sister again. The last time she had been home was Christmas which is a long time because we are really close. Now I just have to wait until summer to see her again.
