Art in St. Pete

This past Saturday my mom invited me to go to St. Pete with her. Her friend was having an art show and my mom wanted to support her. We didn’t end up leaving until 2pm and it’s about a 2 bout drive for us so we decided to just spend the night down there. We only spent about an hour at the art show because it was hot and the gallery didn’t have A/C. The gallery was in the art district of downtown St. Pete so when we left we drove around looking at all the murals.

This Tesla mural was by far my favorite. One of the other artists at the show actually painted it. I forgot her name.

After we drove looking at murals, we decided to get something to eat . My mom’s friend suggested The Pizza Box because they had gluten free pizza.

It still had cheese on it so I still go a little sick afterwards, but totally worth it.

While we were waiting for a spot to open up at The Pizza Box, we HD walked around town A little. We came across this wall that said “Before I Die…”

There was a basket of chalk so we added what we wanted to do before we died. I put travel the world.

My mom put live in a van down by the river.

After dinner we stopped by Publix to get some treats. The Publix had was two stories. The first floor was parking and you had to ride an elevator to get to the store on the second floor. I thought it was pretty cool. Once we got to the motel, we just chilled. I watched Doctor Who while she watched whatever she watched. It was nice to have internet since we still don’t have it at home. 

The next day, check out wasn’t until noon so we slept in. That was nice since o usually can’t sleep in any bed that isn’t mine. The blanket was itchy and the A/C kept making weird noises. When we left we stopped At the beach. St. Pete is on the Gulf coast which I enjoy a lot more.

We had a fun time and it was a nice little weekend trip. We definitely can’t wait to go back!

Weekly Review + This Week’s Goals

Review for 6/6/16-6/12/16

Health– Well I didn’t get as far as I wanted to with my health goals this week. I only did strength training one day, I didn’t walk at all, and I still couldn’t get to sleep before 4am. I also had too many “reintroduction” days. I at least I know for sure which foods I can and can’t have now.

I did however get blood work done at my doctor’s. I don’t go back for a review until July 5th.

Spirituality-I still didn’t meditate. It’s hard for me to actually mediate on little to no sleep.

Work-I worked as many hours as I could and did some much needed advertising.

Art-I finished painting all but one of my mini altar sets. Now all I have to do is make the pouches and they’ll be ready to list on Etsy.

Goals for 6/13/16-6/19

Health– Work on the goals I didn’t accomplish last week.
1. Strength training 3 days a week.
2. Walk 3 days a week.
3. Get to bed before 12am.
4. No reintroduction days. They just make me sick.

Spirituality-Actually meditate instead of just talking about it.

Work:
1. More advertising.
2. Add complimentary water and beverages.

Art– Pouches for the altar kits and get them listed.

Blog-Now that it’s kind of slowing down at work, I want to start writing more articles/posts pertaining to Paganism and Witchcraft. I feel like I don’t have enough in here. I want to write them geared more towards beginners like myself. It’ll help me learn too. I’ll be posting which topics I plan to cover later this week.

Weekly Goals 6/6/16-6/12/16

Health:
Get more sleep: These past two weeks I haven’t gone to bed before 4am. It’s been horrible. This week I’m going to really try to get on a better sleeping schedule.
Start walking again: Because of my lake of sleep I’ve gotten behind on my walking.
Add in strength training: My sister called me dainty. I don’t want to be dainty. I want to be a warrior!

Spiritual:
Meditate more: I always talk about it, but don’t actually do it.

Work:
Work more hours: It’s a slow week so far and I need monies.

Art:
Finish my mini altars: I want to get them listed by the end of the week.

Career Change-New Year’s Goal #2

Back in September I had to retire from doing hair due to chronic lower back pain. I got a job doing home health care and taking care of an elderly man. It’s not as bad on my back since I don’t have to stand on my feet for 6-8 hours anymore, but I do have to lift him quite a bit. The lifting still hurts my back so I’ve been trying to figure out what else I could do career wise. There aren’t many jobs out there that don’t require you to constantly stand on your feet or to do some heavy lifting.

For some time now I’ve wanted to open an Etsy store and sell my hand-made jewelry and paintings. When I was a hairstylist, I just never had the time and when I did, I didn’t have the energy because of my back pain. Now that I have more time and energy I want to really pursue it. I’ll still do CNA work to pay bills and provide supply money. I’m giving myself a year to get the Etsy store to turn at least a little profit. I had an Etsy store a while back, but it didn’t do too good. Mostly because I didn’t put much effort into and because I didn’t market it. I’ve been putting together a business plan. Here’s a peak at what I have:

  • Make a few pieces of jewelry to list to get my shop started.
    • Goal accomplish date: mid-February
  • Advertise my shop and get some buyers.
    • Network through social media sites and get my name out there.
    • Tumblr, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.
    • While I’m getting my name out there, work on expanding my shop.
    • Slowly expand shop and give customers a variety of products.
    • My goal money flow for right now is about $400 a week.
      • Give myself a year to start making that.
      • Or at least making some kind of profit and progress.

This is just kind of an outline. I’m working on a more detailed one and hope to have it finished within the next week or two. I’m doing research on how to run an online business. I want to treat my Etsy shop as a business rather than a hobby. I want to eventually be able to solely support myself on it. I know it will take time and a lot of hard work, but I think I can do it. Even if it takes longer than a year. I’m mostly just giving myself a year to see if it looks like I can get somewhere with it. If it does, then I will keep with it.

It’s really good to see you once again.

I felt really inspired to blog today. Probably because it’s been about a year since the last time that I posted. With the New Year ringing in, I thought it would be nice to update my blog and post my resolutions (even though January is almost over). Better late then never though, ay? Maybe if I blog about them, I’ll actually get started on them (no promises).

One of my unofficial resolutions is to start blogging again, though as we all know (don’t pretend like you don’t), I am a horrible blogger. Well, my posts are fairly decent, but my frequency…yeah not so much. That is all going to change this year (maybe. If I feel like it). The reason I quit blogging before was I felt like I had nothing to blog about and became uninspired. This year I will blog even if I have nothing to blog about (I’ll make something good up).

Alright, enough with the babble you most likely didn’t read and on to my New Years Resolutions!!!

[Maybe I’ll actually keep one]

I’ve organized them into categories because I like organizing and I like making lists. I will also be creating separate blog posts this week to expound on these resolutions further.

Organization- This is the first item on the list because without it, all my other resolutions would be floating around in the air like bubbles. Side note:I want to call my ‘resolutions’ ‘goals’ from now on. I don’t like the word ‘resolution’. It makes it sound like a chore. Moving on, organization pertains to my life in general, as well as my living quarters. Part of the organization starts now by organizing my goals. More on my Organization Goal here.

Career- Recently I had to quit doing hair due to chronic back pain and find other means of work. I lucked out and was able to find a job taking care of an elderly man over night at his house. It’s still hard on my back (when I have to lift him), but it’s not as bad as when I did hair. Plus I make like three times as much money. Though this job is almost perfect for me right now, it won’t last. The man is almost 93 and well, you know. I must think ahead and find what my next move is. I’m right in the middle of a career change. It’s actually the perfect time to follow my dreams of becoming a commission artist.

Spiritual- I was born and raised Mormon. That being said, I’ve never been the most active or spiritual. Sure I went to church and I have a testimony, but I’ve never made it a big part of my life. I’ve always been a part time Mormon. I’ve always had religion, but I haven’t always had spirituality. [For my non-Mormon readers Mormon.org is a great place to read about us.] This year I want to really work on my spirituality. I haven’t been to church in a long time due to work, but I still wish to grow spiritually and think I can do so on my own (for now).

Health- This is another major goal of mine. I’ve always been over weight, and thus have had a lot of health issues. I also think that losing weight will help with my other health issues (blood pressure, back pain).

Financial- One of my major goals this year is to get my financial affairs in order. I have a lot of money in debt from student loans and medical bills. Part of this goal will be creating a budget, the other part will actually be sticking to it. I’ve never been good with money. I impulse buy on frivolous things. Well, my goal is to stop that and to focus on paying off my debt.

Personal- These are more of a misc.

  • Learn a new skill-maybe crocheting or piano. Maybe both?
  • Learn a new language- I took Spanish and German in high school but have since forgotten basically all of it. I want to refresh one of them. Probably Spanish because it’s more useful.
  • Cook more- I’ve recently gotten into cooking and I want to hone my cooking skills.
  • Write more-I’ve recently gotten into writing, and I want to pursue it more. I have a few ideas for novels that I want to start.
  • Read more-I’ve always been an avid, but lately I’ve hit a plateau. I want to branch out of more normal genres.
  • Gardening-I started a small herb garden in like a month ago. My goal right now is to keep them alive.

Blog- This is an unofficial goal because I know that I am a flaky blogger. I also want to put here that even though this will still be a blog about my health journey, I will also be blogging about my other goals listed. So you will see artsy and spiritual things as well as my health progress. I’ve even changed the URL from madisonsmission2.wordpress.com to madhealthyginger.wordpress.com. Like I said earlier, this week I will be posting more detailed posts on my goals explaining why I made them and how I intend to accomplish them. I’ll also be changing the look of my blog. This layout is getting kind of stale.
